Chengdu (September 7): Chinese Taipei’s Tsai Chi-huang shot a calculated closing 68 to win the inaugural RMB800,000 Luxehills Golf Championship in Chengdu with an 18-under total of 270, the lowest winning score on this year’s Omega China Tour.
Liao Guiming, winner of May’s Sofitel Golf Championship, also shot a 68 to finish on 15-under, one ahead of big-hitting Yuan Hao, whose spirited challenge faded when he bogeyed holes 15, 16 and 17 before birdieing the last for a 69 at the Luxehills International Country Club.
China National Team amateurs, in matching blue tops, occupied positions four to six. Third-round co-leader Zhang Xinjun, 21, fell back with a 75 to finish 11-under, two ahead of 16-year-old Benny Ye Jianfeng, who shot 71, while 26-year-old Kevin Huang Wenyi also had a 71 to finish on four-under. Fellow team member David Wei Wei, also 26, posted a 73 to finish tied ninth on one-under.
